NWR Weather's lightning detector located in Regina, Saskatchewan provides coverage for southern Saskatchewan,  northeast Montana and northwest North Dakota. 

The lightning data can be viewed in several ways........

StormVue NG™ (25 - 1200 km Range) (Currently in the alpha testing stage)	An interactive Shockwave Flash interface providing near real-time display of lightning data..  The interface allows the user set their own parameters to many different display options including lightning and storm alarms.  The user selected settings are saved between sessions.  There is a complete help file link located on the interface.
StormVue™ (300 and 600 km Range)	Original StormVue which is an interactive Java applet providing lightning data updated every 60 seconds.
Static Strike Image (25-1200 km Range)	A screenshot of current lightning data and updated every 5 minutes. On this image, calculated locations of thunderstorms can be seen. Based on classification criteria, a green, yellow or red diamond will appear where thunderstorm locations are predicted by the detector software.  The map will automatically adjust the range to provide the best view of the current activity.
NexStorm TRAC Report (Thunderstorm Ranging and Acquisition)	Text-based details based on TRAC to showing details about individual storms that are displayed in the static image above.
Historical Data	Provides a detailed look at past lightning frequency and trends.
TSentry™	Is an automatic storm notification program.  Email me if you would like to be notified via email or text message of approaching storms within 80 km of Regina.  This service would primarily be of use to people living reasonably close to Regina but is open to anyone.
SPARK™ Compact Lightning eXplorer	Is a Java™ MIDlet for cell phones. SPARK.CLX™ works similarly to StormVue but is optimized for usage on small devices, in particular cell phones, and has user initiated reloading of data as opposed to the automatic reloading in StormVue.  To learn more and see if SPARK™ will work with your cell phone, go to following page: http://www.sparkclx.com/  You must have the following: 1. A compatible cell phone connected to the web. Most newer phones will work. 2. Download SPARK.CLX from http://www.sparkclx.com 3. For comparison,  you can also view near real-time lightning data other Saskatchewan detectors which include SaskLightning (located 250 km northwest in Saskatoon, Sk), Barker Farms (located 355 km northwest near Wilkie, Sk) or from WeatherBug which provides near real-time data for North America.

The Environment Canada web site also has delayed lightning data available for comparison purposes.

NWR Weather is a member of the StrikeStar^TM US Networked Lightning Locator System which links real-time single antenna detectors around the world.
 

About the Detector
The lightning data is collected using a Boltek StormTracker single antenna detector.  Although the detector can record lightning strikes over 1000 km away, beyond 400 km, distance accuracy begins to fall off while direction remains very accurate.
